CREATING A POND IN
THE DYLAN CRANE MEMORIAL GARDEN 2008

Saturday April 12 – Diggers at work creating the pond

By Linda Griffin, Proud Perkins Parent

Last year as some of you may know, I applied for and received a fellowship from Earthwatch Institutive and the Tampa Bay Devil Rays. I was also given a generous grant to bring my experience home to help our children to learn more about science. A pond seemed to be a way to cumulate some of the things I learned and create an environment where interrelationships between insects and plants can be observed daily by our students here at school. I spoke at length with Mr. Lister and to others who had successfully made a pond. We looked around the campus for the best place and eventually found ourselves in Dylan’s Garden. We spoke with Carole Crane and she was very excited about the idea of a pond in Dylan’s Garden. May it always be a source of inspiration.

Carole and I are excited about the upcoming venture. We would like to create this pond with your help and would like to dedicate the pond at this year's Spring Festival. We are planning a get together with all interested in volunteering on a Saturday. If you are willing and available to help make this project come to life please email me. If you know a landscaper or gardener who may be willing to donate their time that would be great as well! Thank You.
