May 13 SAC Meeting Canceled
From Carolyn Willett
As we wrap up the last weeks of the school year, we
are finding that we do not have a pressing agenda for a May SAC meeting. We are
canceling next Tuesday, May 13's SAC meeting.
We do have some issues that are still being
addressed: more here.

Tuesday, June 3
PME Event
We are getting closer to summer everyday!
So remember to save Tuesday, June 3rd. We will have
our annual Funset to Sunset on Pass-A-Grille beach again this year. The
address is 9th Avenue at Gulf Way.
June 3rd is the last school day of the year and a
shortened day. Most of us will head to the beach about 4:00 and stay until
8:00. We will play on the beach and enjoy yummy food from Orange Blossom
Catering.
Keep an eye out for the information coming home via
newsletter and backpack. There will be a form attached to order dinner. And
check back here. This will be, as always, lots of fun. Beach, summer breezes,
happy kids, good food and lots of friends - that is as good as it gets!

Special
message for Parents of Mrs. Shultz's 2nd Grade Class
From a Parent
As you know, Mrs. Shultz's Class
has to eat lunch very early: at 10:10 AM every day. This
means that snacks when 'real' lunchtime comes around
(mid-day) are particularly appreciated and in fact
necessary.
That's fine for children who
have more than enough in their packed lunch and choose to
save some for snack. But what happens when there is nothing
left over? What about those children who from choice or
necessity eat the cafeteria meal and so can save nothing for
snack?
Mrs. Shultz tries valiantly to
maintain a stock of snacks, so there is something for
everybody. But supplies are not limitless and sometimes
children go hungry.
Parents, please help. Take in
some snacks for the class occasionally. Of course, they must
conform to the School District's dietary restrictions. Large
bags of chips, pretzels, or popcorn are much appreciated.
Thank you.

Science
Camps at the Science Center of Pinellas County
Science workshop camps
for students in K-12 are available during winter, spring and summer
school breaks. More than 2,000 children take part each year. Camps
generally run 5 days Mon. - Fri. 9-3:30, with extended care available
8:30-5:30 (check for current terms and costs) and there is normally a
choice of several camp agendas in each age range. These camps are a
great complement to the arts syllabus at Perkins, especially since
Science is now an FCAT subject.
